The Ladies

Costessey Park Ladies run a very friendly section where players of all standards are made welcome.

Ladies day is Tuesday and on most club mornings we run a varied programme of activities. Apart from the monthly medals and stablefords there are fun competitions and in the winter months we play greensomes with the senior men. This has become one of the most successful activities of the closed season and during which a special 'Guys and Dolls Trophy' and 'Christmas Competition' feature.

There is also the usual run of knockout events in the summer season whilst during the closed season a winter knockout also takes place run on a round robin format. Last year a coaching scheme run by professional Andrew Young has brought a number of new faces into the club and these ladies can be seen playing with great enthusiasm almost every day of the week. With the Scratch League, Division 5 League team & friendly matches we offer something for everyone.

Ladies' League Div 5. Report

This was our 3rd year in the League (Norfolk Ladies County Golf Association) and our 2nd in Div. 5. We stayed in the division by winning all our home matches. If we had won more games in them we may have done better but as the middle three teams scored 12, 12 and 13 points there was not much in it. League results and full details are posted in our Changing Room. As League Organiser I am very pleased with the result and wish to thank publically all the ladies who turned out for us, some taking time off work and others re-arranging their daily schedules etc.

Most of the games were played in reasonable weather but the away matches against Royal Cromer and Middleton Hall were played in almost torrential rain and the one against Mundesley in what used to be known as a "pea souper". We could hardly see our playing partners never mind the greens! Swaffham were promoted and Mundesley relegated and Eaton 11 have come down and Dunston Hall up. We have had Eaton 11 in the division with us before but look forward to playing Dunston Hall. Let's hope their greens recover in time for the new season which starts in March 2008. Provisional dates have been arranged and I look forward to leading Costessey Park's team to victory.
